10322 Route 116. This is where we will meet the dogs - usually in front of the garage.

To protect each other, please follow these instructions.

  1. Wear a mask if you are sick.

  2. Maintain at least a 6’ distance from all other people if you are feeling sick or have been exposed to someone who is sick.

  3. If the foster dog needs a potty break, be sure to walk away from the parking lot and away from other people. Keep dog ON leash at all times.

Turn into the police station and park in one of the available places in the parking lot.

Our transport coordinator will be near the garage with crates, beds, foster & gift bags nearby. These are your supplies. This is the area marked by the puppy on the map.

When the van is unloading & your pup is called, pick up your dog from Keith and make sure the collar feels tight enough. We don’t want it to slip off. Bring the dog (on leash or carry) for some play time on the grass next to the police station. This is a good time for the dog to go potty as well.

The dogs usually have some pent up energy from riding in a crate for 3 days and need to move around. Be sure to keep the dogs ON leash at all times. Let us know if your pup goes potty. We have bags with us and will clean up.

When ready, return to your car and bring your foster dog home. See instructions below on safe handling of your foster dog once you are home.

Our September 21 pups and their foster parents are listed below.

Your foster dog has been through several major changes in a short period of time. Please follow these guidelines to ease their transition.

FIRST TWO DAYS IN YOUR HOME

  • Help the dog by creating a safe, quiet space to decompress.

  • Calm, laid back, mellow environment is key.

  • Dog can meet your personal pets in the home, but restrict meeting other dogs.

  • Foster pup can meet & spend time with your family, but no crowds right now.

  • Walks around your yard or along a low/no traffic road or path are great.

  • Prepare and serve the Pumpkin Mash to ease GI trouble.

  • Even housebroken dogs will have accidents the first few days. They need to learn where the door is to their bathroom.

ENTIRE TIME FOSTER DOG IS IN YOUR CARE

  • Dog MUST remain ON leash while fostering unless in a secure fenced area.

  • Please do not bring a foster dog to a dog park at any point during his stay.

  • Foster pups should not travel outside of VT or go on overnight adventures without prior discussion with Brigitte.

  • Dog should remain in your care 24/7 unless an alternative foster parent is approved.

  • Martingale collar provided should be used. Fitting information provided on this page.

  • VT Dog Rescue ID tag should remain on the collar. If tag gets lost, ask for replacement.

By working together, we can help each dog succeed in his/her new life!
