Brigitte Thompson

Dear VT Dog Rescue Community,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of our founder, amazing leader, and President, Brigitte Thompson, who passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, 2/18/24. This has been an extremely difficult time for her family, friends, and our rescue family. Rescue was Brigitte's passion and she worked tirelessly to build a reputable, ethical, and kind organization prioritizing the dogs above all else. Our team is honoring Brigitte's legacy by continuing on with the mission that she so strongly believed in. We appreciate your patience as we navigate this tremendous loss.

Brigitte officially founded VT Dog Rescue in 2015 after a lifetime of loving dogs and wanting to help the countless abandoned, injured, or homeless animals. She partnered with several rescues, fosters, and transport drivers in southern areas where shelters are overwhelmed and dogs are in urgent need of medical care and forever homes. She was drawn to dogs that would have otherwise been left behind or not given a chance at all. Not only did Brigitte accomplish that goal by saving, sponsoring, transporting, and adopting out many HUNDREDS of dogs in the last decade... she also created this community and family of like-minded people. Brigitte got to know every single one of us personally. She was our mentor, advocate, and friend. To say we are heartbroken is an understatement—yet we are also grateful, empowered, and honored to be a part of her team.

As we enter a new chapter, we thank you for all your support and love of our dogs over the years.
