Adoption process- Step 3
Welcome to VT Dog Rescue. We are happy you are here to visit!
Our adoption process is described below. Please contact us with any questions.
Complete Application: Tell us what you are looking for in a dog and what life would be like for a pup you bring home. Be sure to respond to all questions thoroughly and honestly. Click here to complete application.
Contact References: Please let your references know will be calling. The adoption process will continue moving forward if we are able to each references or they return our call within 24 hours.
Contact Veterinarian: If you have ever owned a pet, we need to connect with the veterinary clinic that provided care for that pet. This could be your current vet or maybe one you haven't seen in several years since you no longer have a pet. Please contact that office and grant them permission to speak with a volunteer from VT Dog Rescue. Once that call has been made send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know.
Give us Time: This is the hardest part. Due to the high number of applications received, it can take up to 3 weeks to process. We are diligent about finding the right match for each pup and that takes time. Once we review all applications, we will contact people we feel are a good fit to schedule a visit with the pup.
Meet your Rescue Partner: We offer lifetime phone and email support for all of our adopters. We want to help our pups succeed in their new lives. Each adopter will be contacted by one of our trained rescue partners who can answer questions, provide support, and share resources. Our partners include dog trainers, volunteers who are dog owners, foster parents, our adopters, and veterinarians.
