Our adoption process is described below. Please contact us with any questions.
Complete Survey: Tell us what you are looking for in a dog and what life would be like for a pup you bring home. Be sure to respond to all questions thoroughly andhonestly. Click here to complete survey.
Deposit: Beginning 7/1/17 a deposit will be collected with every survey submitted. This is non-refundable and will be considered a donation if not applied to the adoption fee. Click here to pay deposit of $25.00.
Contact References: Please let your references know will be calling. The adoption process will continue moving forward if we are able to each references or they return our call within 24 hours.
Contact Veterinarian: If you have ever owned a pet, we need to connect with the veterinary clinic that provided care for that pet. This could be your current vet or maybe one you haven't seen in 8 years since you no longer have a pet. Please contact that office and grant them your permission to speak with a volunteer from VT Dog Rescue.
Give us Time: This is the hardest part. It can take from 1- 3 weeks to process. We are diligent about finding the right match for each pup and that takes time. Once we review all surveys, we will contact people we feel are a good fit and schedule a visit with the pup.
