Beck
VT Dog Rescue saves dogs from high kill shelters in the South and finds them loving homes.
Beck
This boy is a great companion! Exactly the sort of friend everyone needs to talk to, snuggle with and spend time hanging around. Beck comes to us from AL where he had been living with a loving person who ran into health issues. Thankfully, her veterinarian offered to help her re-home this gentle boy and reached out to us for rescue. We are SO glad we had an amazing foster family available to welcome him to VT. This dog has a heart of gold.
The vet who has cared for Beck in AL feels he’s about 8 years old. As of 9/27, he weighs 85 lbs and would benefit from losing a bit which can be done with regular walks. He walks well with a loose leash and a lively skip in his step. (Watch his video below.) He’s enjoying our VT fall weather with all the new scents in the air and things to see.
His overall temperament is laid back and mellow. His foster mom shared:
“He is probably a 2 on the energy scale. He gets excited and jogged when the dogs were running around the yard even let out some barks but would rather watch and lay around sniff some things at a slow pace. He follows us around the house and yard but also is content to lay on the floor or a dog bed while we do whatever. He slept on a nice big dog bed all night right outside our room and was a gem, didn’t wake up til we did and no accidents so far at all.”
It’s important to note that due to his age, Beck is not a jumper. It’s nice in that he does not jump up on people to great them - but also important to consider because he’s a heavy boy to pick up. He needs to be lifted into cars and onto furniture or bed for snuggles. He’s still learning about stairs, but they could be a challenge as well.
We do not provide DNA testing which is the only way to know with certainty which breeds are in his genetic background. Our best guess is that he is a Lab mix.
