Thank you for your interest in adopting through VT Dog Rescue!  We now provide pre-adoption visits with social distancing and contact-free transfers.

Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it can take from 1-2 weeks to review & process them. Once we reach your application you can expect an email with a status update and, most likely, some questions.  We do this to gather information in order to make the best match for each dog and each person.  Please be sure to check your email regularly during this time.  

Once a decision is made, an email will be sent to the selected applicants who can schedule a time to visit the pup.  All others will be notified by email once the pup has been adopted. 

Our mission is to place every dog we rescue into a well matched forever home.
This takes time.   

Adopting a dog is a lifetime commitment.  
Do not fill out this application unless you are committed to taking care of your dog for life.  

Most rescue dogs will not arrive with perfect manners or superior leash skills.  Just as you would with children, you must be willing to help the dog through any issues that come up.  Your dog will need your gentle guidance and positive reinforcement training to bring out the best in him.
