Guiness is coming to us from a high kill shelter near West Monroe, LA. He is 4-5 months old, house broken and crate trained. He is currently living in a foster home with other dogs and getting along really well.

He is an awesome choice for people who like to be active and are looking for a companion to join them on their adventures. During the day, he enjoys playing and going for walks (check out his video!).  When settling in for the night, he is super snuggly and enjoys cuddling with his people. He is an all around awesome pup!
While in VT foster care, Guiness' foster mom noticed something was odd with his right eye.  There was a light film over the cornea. She took him to Vermont Veterinary Eye Care in Williston who diagnosed him with a malformed retina and optic nerve.  He can't see out of his right eye. It is a birth defect no one knew about.

Guiness has adjusted well, he has compensated and life is good. No treatment is necessary and his other eye is normal.

His foster mom shared:

"Guiness is a sweet 4-5 month old black Lab/shepherd mix who is blind in his right eye. You would never guess it as it doesn’t slow him down in any way. He loves toys, kids, dogs and he loves to run! The best part is when he snuggles with you after a good day of play. I have learned that if he stretches next to you and you rub his head slowly his eye lids are too heavy to keep open."

We do not provide DNA testing which is the only way to know with certainty which breeds are in his family tree. Our best guess is Lab mixed with Shepherd or Whippet.
