Hobo

hobo

Hobo is a fluffy mix of several breeds including Anatolian Shepherd. He weighs about 85 lbs and is 5-7 years old.

This handsome dog is crate trained, house broken and has great leash skills. Although he enjoys his daily walks and loves to go on longer, more adventurous hikes - he does not *need* to do that in order to be happy.   He is adaptable and just happy to spend time with people who care about him.

Hobo spent the first part of his life in Rockmart, GA. When his person passed away from cancer, Hobo's entire world was turned upside down. Arriving in VT, he was scared and uncertain.  However, after a few months of foster care - he's now a happy, confident, affectionate and devoted dog.  The difference is visible when comparing Hobo's pics from when he arrived in VT to  few months later.

Hobo is food motivated and very smart. He is working with an amazing trainer (Tom of Blue Dog Training) and is catching on easily to Recall, Heel, Sit, Stay and other commands.  Tom has introduced Hobo to 7 dogs of varying size, personality and gender and Hobo has done a great job interacting with each one. No dog aggression or negative reactions.

Our initial concern about Hobo doing best as the only dog in a home no longer applies.  He's not a fan of cats and is a little too interested in our free-range chickens. We won't place him in a home with any small pets such as cats, rabbits, or ferrets.

Although he's not a guard dog, Hobo is observant and wants to keep his people safe. He is alert,  prefers to be aware of his surroundings and once he feels everything is in it's place - he can relax.  It's a big job - and Hobo takes it seriously.

Please consider welcoming Hobo into your life. He will be your loyal friend and devoted companion.

Hobo is heartworm negative, neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Our adoption fee is $350 which includes age appropriate vaccines (such as Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella, Parvo), spay/neuter, worming, microchipping, and health exam.
